Hip Hop is dead. All the way from Singapore, here are the killers. Honestly, who wrote their rhymes? Because, well, they don't rhyme...
(I realise I'm overreacting. People have been sounding the death knell for hip hop for ages, from 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' to Nelly's Air Force Ones, from Nas's Hip Hop is Dead to Jibbs's Chain Hang Low. Still, whatever happened to Public Enemy, KRS-One, A Tribe Called Quest, and other awesome groups?)

Hey Rory, I've been enjoying your blog for a while now, thought it was about time I actually left a comment!
You can't have heard about the hip-hop revival going down in Seattle, spearheaded by the Blue Scholars, aka Geo and DJ Sabzi, who coincidentally is a Persian Baha'i.
I think that if they sold out to a major label, they would be seriously big by now! But they're not going to do that: rather than getting a load of scattered and fickle fans who move on to something else the next week, they're trying to build a community around the music, who can then be represented through it, and in the long term they want to start their own label to foster talent in this community, along the lines of their Baha'i-like ethos. Thats my understanding of it anyway..
